July 21-July 22 - ‘Art and change: Community upliftment’
Making Midwest Festival #2 One Better
Do one better. Make one better. Be one better.
To DO one better is to push your creative ability further than you did yesterday. To MAKE one better is to use your creative ability to make others better. To BE one better is to join with others to make your community stronger.
The Midwest is a leader in the creative industry. From Chicago, to Detroit, to Pittsburgh, Nashville and everywhere in between, the Midwest is home to the most passionate and hardworking people in the country— Making Midwest is our collective flag, planted. A proud showing of what we make, how we make it and why. And most importantly, our shared stories, as we grow and push each other to be the very best — we are Making Midwest.

"Working Cures: A Night of Healing through Poetry," inspired by the book Working Cures: Healing, Health, and Power on Southern Slave Plantations by Sharla M. Fett, is a night of literary art and discussion surrounding issues of reproduction, motherhood, and intimate partner violence.
The work presented by Columbus-area poets is designed to facilitate discussion around the issues while working to heal community members who have both direct and indirect experiences with the themes.
Admission to the event is pay-what-you-want and all proceeds will go to the ROOTT (Reproductive Justice Organization of Central Ohio).
